A very practical set that contains everything you need to keep your knives in perfectcondition. In the lightweight but durable tin box you will find mineral oil in a can, which serves not only to treat the steel blades of knives (any knives, not just Opinel), but also to revive the handles. It preserves unpainted wood ones, revives painted ones and even has a positive effect on plastic ones, where it eliminates the coating caused by washing in the dishwasher. A small drop of oil dropped on the cloth provided and spread on the surface is all that is needed for treatment.
A 14 x 5 x 1.4 cm abrasive stone is also an integral part of the set. This is a grinding stone made from a special stone quarried in the French Pyrenees, specifically in the Ariege region. Its grinding surface is fine, corresponding to a grain of 1000. The grinding wheel should be slightly moistened with water before use. It is designed for sharpening all knives, not only pocket knives but also kitchen knives.
The included blue microfibre cloth can be used in two ways:
1) to drip and spread the oil
2) as a pad under the sharpener to prevent it from slipping on the surface
