Opinel mineral oil for knife maintenance

Keep your knives in perfect condition! In the lightweight but durable tin box you will find a mineral oil that not only serves to to treat the steel blade of your knives (any knives, not just Opinel), but also to revive the handles. It preserves the unpainted wood ones, revives the painted ones, and even the oil coating has a positive effect on the plastic ones, where it eliminates the coating caused by washing in the dishwasher. A small drop of oil dropped on a cloth and spread on the blade is all you need to treat it. Wait until the blade is dry before closing it.

- Opinel maintenance oil is used to lubricate blades and blades, to treat handles and wooden cutting boards

- odourless mineral oil in a 150 ml tin canister

The birth of a legend

The story of the now iconic Opinel® brand begins in the 19th century, when the merchant Victor-Amédée Opinel learned to forge nails during his travels and subsequently set up his forge in France. After his death, his son Daniel took over the trade and became the "maker of sharp objects" for local farmers. because his sickle and scythe blades were renowned far and wide as the sharpest possible.
But the real Opinel-closing pocket knife would have to wait a little longer to see the light of day.Daniel Opinel' s eldest son, Joseph, decided to follow in his father's footsteps and, driven by an artistic passion...he combined hand craftsmanship with the most advanced technology of the day to create a small miracle. The year was 1890 and the Opinel pocket knife saw the light of day, a knife loved from day one and handed down from generation to generation. A knife that over the following years won hundreds of thousands of fans around the world, became a staple in many households and, in a way, one of the symbols of France.
