The history of the American brand Nordic Ware began in 1946 when David Dalquist, a metallurgical engineer with Swedish roots, founded the companywith his wife Dorothy. However, it was not until 1950 that the brand became more widely known to customers. That's when a group of housewives visited David and asked him to create a classic cake mould, one they knew from their European homelands. David was inspired by their wishes and created the world famous Bundt, the patented name for the bundt cake mould. The next major company milestone came in 1966. A prestigious baking competition (Pillsbury Bake-Off) was held in Houston, USA, where contestant Ella Helfrich placed 2nd. with a Nordic Ware mould with a hole in the middle and baked the now iconic Fudge Tunnel recipe, which guaranteed fame not only for her but also for the Nordic Ware brand. Her moulds literally became an overnight hit. Today, nearly 70 million households have a Nordic Ware mould in their home , and that number is still growing.
The still family-owned company is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and also has a development centre here. The Nordic Ware brand is constantly innovating, using the most powerful technologies. When a mould is designed, a 3D model is printed first and then the actual production of the mould can begin. The company not only innovates its production processes, but also adds new shapes and seasonal moulds to its product range. Everything from the creation to the dispatch of the product in one place.
