Opinel Table Chic steak knife set, 4 pcs, Finnish birch

Finnish birch has a naturally white wood, which makes it perfect for staining. To shape the handles and get the so-called "white" finish. To create the zebrawood look, differently coloured strips of this wood are used together with purely natural ones, which are then assembled under pressure in a special process to form a block from which the handles are finally made. The Table Chic Finnish Birch wood table knife set contains 4 elegant knives, packed in a cardboard case that is also ideal for storage. Blades in polished Sandvik stainless steel. The steel ring on the blade is machined into a flat that ensures the knife's stability on the table.

- The zebrawood look of the finished Finnish birch wood adds an exotic charm to your table
- The 10 cm long stainless steel blade in mirror shine brings a festive atmosphere
- Excellent cutting properties allow you to enjoy your steak to the last bite
- Hand wash recommended

How is the zebra effect created?
Finnish birch wood is treated with lamination. Finnish birch wood is naturally white, so it has been specially selected to create an interesting "zebra" effectThis is created by layering individually coloured wooden slats, which are then pressed back together through the lamination process. The wood is stained to the colour of slate and then varnished, so that its beautiful pattern stands out.

Table Chic Collection
Each design set always contains 4 table knives with a wooden handle, made of selected wood, characterised by a beautiful pattern. Thanks to its natural characteristics, each knife is a little original when it comes to its handle. The precise, shiny blades of these knives are made of Sandvik 12C27 treated stainless steel. This steel is highly anti-corrosive thanks to the addition of chromium and requires no special maintenance. A carbon content of at least 0.40% provides excellent cutting sharpness. Blade hardness 57-58 HRC. The shape of these beautiful steak cutlery knives refers to the curved Turkish knives of the Ottoman Empire, the so-called Yattagans.

A combination of ancient tradition and contemporary design
In 2021, the Swiss design studio BIG GAME created the Perpétue stainless steel cutlery collection for the Opinel brand, perfectly combining ancient family tradition and contemporary design. The collection bears the name of Joseph Opinel's grandmother, the very man who gave France one of its icons that would eventually conquer the world - the Opinel closing pocket knife. The same studio then designed the Table Chic steak knife sets, where the wooden handles are always made of wood with a beautiful pattern or colour. So you can buy sets of 4 table knives that are very sharp and have handles made of olive, ebony or ash wood or Finnish birch wood that has been treated with a special process.

Opinel - a design icon
The story of the now iconic Opinel brand begins in the 19th century, when the merchant Victor-Amédée Opinel learned to forge nails during his travels and subsequently set up his forge in France. After his death, his son Daniel took over the craft and became the "maker of sharp objects" for the local farmers, as the blades of his sickles and scythes were renowned far and wide as the sharpest possible. But the real Opinel - the closing pocket knife - would have to wait a little longer to be discovered. Daniel Opinel's eldest son, Joseph, decided to follow in his father's footsteps and, driven by an artistic passion...he combined hand craftsmanship with the most advanced technology of the day to create a small miracle. The year was 1890 and the Opinel pocket knife saw the light of day, a knife loved from day one and handed down from generation to generation. The knife, which over the following years won hundreds of thousands of fans around the world, became a staple in many households and a bit of a symbol of France...
Nowadays, the company not only produces legendary outdoor knives, but also has a sophisticated kitchen program, including forged kitchen knives; you can also buy stainless steel cutlery and steak knives from Opinel today.
